ATTENTION ALL SINGERS!!! Plans for rehearsing and putting together our bhajan program for Albuquerque are beginning to fall into place. We want to minimize the number of practices (hence minimize travel). Julia Price, from the Wyoming satsang, is a professional musician and has high quality digital recording equipment. She can record digitally, then put the music on her web site, in an MP3 format which we can all download. She can also burn the recorded music directly onto CD’s. Julia plans to come to the April 19 music practice in CO Springs, with her recording equipment. We will record all of our bhajans at the 4/19 music practice - with Julia’ s expert help and equipment. Those who want to sing with us for Amma in ABQ will be able to hear and practice the recorded music at their leisure. There will be another group practice in Colo Spgs on May 10 and then one final group practice in ABQ with harmonium and tabla accompaniment.

Directions: Exit I-25 at Uintah Street (exit 143) and proceed East on Uintah past 5 or 6 lights to Wahsatch Avenue. Turn Left one block to San Miguel St., where you will turn Right (East). Go 2 blocks to Royer Street, turn Left. Our house is the third residence on the Left, a yellow frame 2 story, Amma’s picture is on our front door.

Food: The Springs Amma Satsang will serve LUNCH AT NOON. Attendees from out of town do not need to make food. Just please come ON TIME. We will start practice promptly at 1:00. RSVP one week in advance of each practice, so that we know how many to prepare for.

CHILD CARE WILL BE PROVIDED. If you will need child care for any practice, please let Pat know ASAP, but at least one week in advance.

Our final bhajan program will be decided at the end of the April 19th practice. We deeply appreciate the Satsangs’ flexibility and willingness to accept a certain degree of structure in order that our musical offering to Amma may represent our love and our desire to serve, and to give the best that we are.

Arun seems to be our only harmonium player this year. He needs, ASAP, and certainly BEFORE APRIL 12:
* MUSIC of your bhajan, either on paper (western notation or note names), tape or CD.
* WORDS of your bhajan, electronic, printed or legibly hand written.
* TEMPO at which you expect to lead.
* KEY in which you will sing, or at least starting note.
* YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION.

The more time Arun has to practice your bhajan, the better and more comfortably he will be able to play for you. APRIL 12 is the deadline for getting your bhajan info to him. Be aware that if everyone calls ON April 12 he may not be able accommodate everyone. After April 12, you will need to find your own harmonium accompanist. Call Arun or another PIO to make sure that your PRONUNCIATION is accurate. Your attendance at the April 19 group practice is ESSENTIAL. If you CANNOT ATTEND APRIL 19 to record your bhajan, call ARUN right away. He will try to arrange something. Our final bhajan program for ABQ will be decided by the group that attends the practice on April 19.

ALL lead singers must be present at the final practice in ABQ so that we can finalize the tabla accompaniment, and must attend at least one other practice. The tabla player is from Phoenix and will be available for the one final practice. If you are unable to comply with this essential need of the group, your bhajan will be cut from the program or given to someone else to lead. We deeply appreciate lead singers’ willingness to serve and to take responsibility to assure that their bhajan offering is prepared and distributed in a timely way.

Colorado Springs will be holding regular Satsangs on the first and third Fridays in March, 3/7 and 3/21. Music practice will be moved from Friday evenings to Saturday afternoons in March, April, and May. This will allow brothers and sisters from the other Colorado Satsangs to join Colorado Springs Satsang for practices for singing in Albuquerque. The dates in April and May are 4/19, and 5/10. We were tentatively planning for Noon, and our satsang will provide lunch for those attending; then begin practice at 1 pm.

The next IAM (Integrated Amrita Meditation) course will be held March 29th from 11:30AM to 6:30PM at the Alaya Yoga Spa in Louisville. The class is open to all age 18 and up and will be a valuable refresher course for those who have already taken IAM instruction. A donation of $10 includes tea and sancks. Wear loose clothing, bring a yoga mat if you like. There will be a late lunch break. The Colorado Satsangs are planning a pranam ad for the National Program Booklet which is handed out during Amma’s tour of North America.  We are planning on at least a half page ad.  Funds raised by program booklet ads help to pay for Amma’s visit to the U.S.  The cost of placing the ad is paid by devotee donations and we still need your help to reach our goal!  Please make your donation check payable to Amma Colorado and give it to your satsang host or email Danica at danicabrown@yahoo.com for mailing address.  Thank you for your support!

The Bailey Satsang has changed its starting time to 11:00AM on the last Sunday of each month.  We hope that this later starting time will make it easier for devotees from outside the Bailey area to attend Satsang.  For more details and info on the Bailey Satsang please visit the Satsangs page on this website.

Last year the Colorado Springs Satsang hosts’ co-housing Community had a “talent show” party. Thinking that it’s always a good thing to expose new people to Amma’s music/energy, a few of us decided to do our rousing version of ‘Kuch na le ” (Hari Bol), which was received with great enthusiasm. Afterward several of the children could be heard singing hari bol hari bol hari hari bol for a couple of weeks.

The “talent show party” has been scheduled again this year, on Feb 29, which was originally going to be our bhajan practice evening– but at satsang this past week we talked about sharing a couple of bhajans again at the Community party that night. Only a few of us were there, but we decided to offer to do Kuch na le again and also Amma Baramma. So we moved the practice to this THURSDAY PM, Feb. 21, from 7-8:00. We’ll work on those 2 songs and plan on sharing them with the community folks on the 29th, instead of having the practice that night.

All are welcome to participate; the more the merrier. If you want to sing on the 29th, but CANNOT make it to practice this Thursday, please let Pat or Arun know and we’ll figure it out. We thought we would dress up in our most Indian garb possible. If anyone needs to borrow a sari, Pat has some extras. So far we are the only “talent” signed up. Last year most of the talent (other than us) was provided by the kids–but who knows? Contact Pat or Arun (see Satsang webpage link to right) for more info.

There will be an OM at Dhanya’s house on Saturday, February 23rd at 1:00PM with chai and snacks. Agenda includes Amma’s summer tour planning (including bhajan practice scheduling), tree planting ceremony this Spring, and annual garage sale fundraiser. All are welcome.
